Welcome at St-Julien de Lampon,
in Dordogne area, in the heart of Black Perigord

The Coat of Arms of the Family de Vassal who owned the Château Tourette during centuries. "D'Azur, à la bande d'argent remplie de gueules, chargée de trois besants d'or, et accompagnée de deux étoiles du même, une en chef et l'autre en pointe" This Coat of Arms was donated by the Family de Vassal to the village on the occasion of celebrations for the 2nd millenium.  History: The village St-Julien has been in existance since the beginning of the Middle Ages. (Church was first mentionned in 1143).
At the foundation of the diocese of Sarlat in 1317 the village of St-Julien de Lampon styed under the protection of the diocese of Cahors.
Only during the French Revolution the village was integrated into the Department of the Dordogne. 
Saint-Julien de Lampon is situated on the left bank of the Dordogne, between the river plain and the wooded "pechs" (hills, well known by every cycling fan !).
A wide strip of alluvial land, extends along the river giving space for agricultural exploitation. 
A small brook coming down from Goulhiac joins the dordogne...
Its name is "Lampo" which has given to the village a part of its name.
The Bridge was constructed in 1895 with the gold-coloured stones of the Perigord. The bridge became the symbol for the active and dynamic village.
The port and the ferry which long ago assured the crossing of the river disappeared simultaneously. 
A shaded picknick area is provided on the river bank. Accessible by foot path which traverses the campsite or by car by the opposite way. The Tree of the Freedom, planted in 1848, is a Chesnut Tree which one can still see today in the square befor the church. In the village you will find everything that you require:
 Shops: bakery, butcher, grocery, snack bar with tobacconist, antiques, restaurants, hairdresser, restaurant... ?
Services: doctor, nurse, pharmacy, dentist, elementary school. Taxi, post office, bank (ATM)
Craftsmen: Producers of Foie Gras (goose liver paté)... electrician, plumber, maso, manufacturer of fishing nets, boat builders ...
Main agricultural products: tobacco, maize (corn), walnuts, asparagus, strawberries and poultry farming. The every Thursday market:
it takes place all the year long. But a happy vitality dominates the village during the summer...  
Leisure activities all the year round: gymnastic courses, Taï qi juan, qi qong, soccer club, bowls club, tennis, social club... The yearly flea market is the last Sunday of August. Every year in September, there is the start of national canoe and kajak marathon! Hundreds of boats are floating on the river to Castelnaud-la-Chapelle.
Every year, the first week-end after july 14: 3 days of celebration in the village. And during the summer, concerts and bals... all organised by the "Comite of Fêtes".
St-Julien de Lampon is a lively village!
